We had the most gorgeous sunset tonight. Obviously my little camera phone can't capture it. But here is Katherine looking at the sunset over the bay out her office window.
Flew home to Oakland today. It was super clear as we got into the area - I could even see the Mormon temple, CA-13, and Mount Diablo from the plane! There's Mt. Diablo as I saw it this morning. So pretty!
Jess, Jeff and Arden (friends of Kristi's) all ran the Seattle marathon this morning because they are both awesome and insane. Here is the start of the race. You can see Jeff leaping into the air for joy. He kind of did that at the end too...they all rock! As we waited for them to cross the finish line we tried to cheer everyone else on. It's cool when you can actually see in their faces that you've encouraged them to finish the last few yards. Yay! What fun!
There is the most amazing Italian restaurant in Seattle! It has an entire gluten-free menu. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Here is my meal: amazing pasta dish, garlic bread, and beer. I haven't had garlic bread - one of the greatest inventions of all time - in SO LONG. I seriously was BEYOND blissful. In my ecstasy I may or may not have told the waitress that I was in love with her. I ate sooo much, aaaaaaaaaaaaaah. SO AWESOME!
Alright so I have to admit - I failed. I didn't take a picture today. I was running around after work getting ready to fly to Seattle for Thanksgiving and forgot :( However, I DO have a picture for you, from another day that I didn't post. Here is Mr. Octopus keeping an eye on the Bay Bridge.
Here is Hobbes torturing Dinah. This is what I had to deal with this afternoon. He just would NOT leave her alone. I am pretty sure it's because he stayed inside all day today - he's bored and causing trouble! I put Dinah in my room and shut the door and then played with Hobbes for a while. She seems happy with the arrangement but he still keeps trying to get in there with her. Typical little brother.
I have been way past due for a hair cut. The last time I went in was...JULY. bahaha. Well I finally made an appointment and went in for a cut, since my hair was driving me nuts and looked kinda like poo. I totally love the girl who cuts my hair. She completely understands wanting a low maintenance cut, and works with my hair, and points out what she likes about what it's doing on its own. Anyway. Here are my before and after shots. Just in time for the holidays. Woohoo!
Someone needs to tell the Bay that it's fall, because it seems to have forgotten! I'm not complaining, though! Took another walk today at lunch time. Can you see the fat cat peering at us from behind the stairs?
Pot pie is my favorite food in the entire world, but I thought it was a thing of the past. Not so! I found a mix that makes gluten-free crust, so I made gluten-free pot pie! The purpose of this pie was two-fold. a) I love pot pie. b) I want to make a pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving, but wasn't sure if the crust would turn out. So this was my pre-Thanksgiving test run. The crust is really good, and was really easy to make! And the pot pie turned out pretty darn good, though not as good as my mom's. Someday!
My co-worker, Steven, made a very foolish bet with me about whether or not raccoons have salivary glands. Obviously they do. He had to buy me ice cream as punishment for being so wrong. So of course I invited Kap and Katherine and made him buy them ice cream as well. Not the greatest picture, but here Kap and I hold up our sweet rewards.
I got Jonathan's birthday present to me today! It's this awesome "snood." A snood is like a scarf, but it's all connected the whole way around. Fun! I love the colors. Thanks, Jonathan!!
