Irony

9-17-10
Went to the De Young tonight with Delphine after work. A friend of hers was dj'ing at the Mexican Independence Day celebration. There was music, dancing, a conga line, and we got to look around at the permanent collection for free, too, which was awesome. This picture is from one of the coolest rooms that we saw. It's a cathedral constructed entirely of firearms, bullet casings, bebes etc. If you look through the doorway (sorry this pic isn't that great thanks to my camera phone) there is a human spine inside. It, along with a lot of the other art in this room, made a pretty powerful statement on religion and violence.
