Careful!

6-29-10
Driving home I saw this truck and thought it was a funny mascot for a moving truck. And Jesus is a camera hog.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

6-28-10
Ok so I didn't take this picture, but I don't care because it just HAS to be the picture for today. Here you can see my dad and I are in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, 2nd Life Style! Oh yeah! I think Jonathan is here too, but I'm not sure. He was having visibility issues (i.e. we could only see his root beer float, his shoes, and his sunglasses). Of course I made sure to play Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as we flew around! Dad LOVED it! ;)

Never Ending Tasks

6-27-10
Laundry day yet again. I really hate doing laundry, but I have to admit I think that clothes spinning around in dryers looks kinda cool.

USA! USA! USA!

6-26-10
US vs. Ghana game. This is how exciting it was. Too bad we lost.

Blue Straw

6-25-10
I really liked this cup and the blue straw. It's the little things in life that make a difference. Anyway, this was at lunch today. There is a new Indian place near campus, so Delphine and I walked down to try it out and ate outside at Cal and dished about which eligible straight men were worth looking at and who we should set Jess up with. bwahahahaha. I love her.

Beach

6-24-10
Had a picnic at the beach today for lunch! There was an odd child who had lost his swim trunks and stood there telling me about how he got there at 8am and there was no one else around so who KNOWS where he changed, it could have been in the men's or women's bathroom, he wasn't paying attention. lol. Weird kid.

Love Potion #9

6-23-10
This isn't a very good picture, but I was kind of in a rush, so sorry...but look at how many tiny little bottles these people have in their window! One of them has GOT to be love potion #9!!

C is for...Construction?

6-22-10
This is right outside my office door. Can you tell what it is? I'll tell you - it's a blocked off area of construction! They're tearing out the ceiling and replacing it before it falls on some poor unsuspecting person's head. 3/4 of the hallway is blocked off, so to go to the bathroom I have to go downstairs, down the hall, and back upstairs to the other side of the hallway. It's really not as annoying as it sounds though, and it's kind of nice to have an excuse to walk farther and take longer going to the bathroom. An adventure a minute!

Grrrr!

6-21-10
I pumped iron today, GRRRRRRRRRRR! Check out my muscles. Intimidated yet? You should be. I'm gonna pound you into peanut butter! Like Mistah T. I pity da fool!

Message by Bean

6-20-10
Jess left me this message via beans on my laptop today. I suppose it's good that she's expressing her feelings...even if this is the medium she chooses.

Teeny Tiny!

6-19-10
I went to the Berkeley Farmer's Market today with my friend, Kuukua, after going to the Y. There was a vendor there with the tiniest lettuce I've ever seen! The Berkeley market is pretty darn good - I'll have to go back another time when I have money...and buy some baby lettuce!

The Wonder!

6-17-10

There the sun shines not, nor the moon and the stars,
nor the lightning, let alone this earthly fire.

Only when illumining Light shines,
everything else shines;
the self-revealing Light illumines the entire universe.

Piiiiiiiiiiiink

6-16-10
These pink flowers are down the block from my house. I like them a lot. Every time I drive/walk/bike by I look at them and their pinkness. The end.

Obsessed

6-15-10
I've seen this car on multiple occasions because it lives at a house on the way to Safeway, BofA, and other such important places in Berkeley. Clearly this woman is more than a little obsessed about her dog. She has signs about this dog in the windows of her house too. Well today I finally saw her AND her beloved dog. She got out of her car, went to the back got out a white cushion, placed it on the ground and THEN the dog stepped out onto the cushion (God forbid it touch the ground) and then they went inside. I only regret that I wasn't quick or stealthy enough to get a picture of that. Aaaand welcome to Berkeley.

Looking Up

6-14-10
Tomorrow is Katherine's birthday, so for lunch she, Kap, Tricia, and I went up the Arlington for a picnic lunch and a walk around some of Cal's gardens. It was a beautiful day, though unfortunately very foggy in the City so we couldn't see the GG bridge. But the gardens were full of blooming flowers, butterflies, and awesome trees. Here is an impressive redwood I noticed looking up.

Lake Anza

6-13-10
Went to Lake Anza today with Katherine to do some open water swimming. It was the perfect day! Sunny, hot, a nice breeze every now and then. Aaaaaaaaaaaaah. There was a rope under water that was standing up though, and totally looked like a snake. I freaked out when I first swam by it (and, well ok...every time I swam by it! I knew it was there, but it still took me by surprise every time!), BUT I didn't panic and I was able to keep swimming! Step 1 to conquering my fear of swimming in open water!

Unusual Friends

6-12-10
I can't tell which one is growing up out of the ground...the flowers or the hydrant?

Back to the Future!!

6-11-10
Do you think this guy has owned those clothes since the '70s, or do you think he went and specifically bought them in this decade? I'm not sure which would be worse...

Technical Problems

6-10-10
A vital piece of my job is gift processing. When donations to the school are made, I pick them up, count them, enter them correctly into the database so that they are applied to the correct funds and designations, and then convert and upload the files so that the business office can post the money to the general ledger. Well for the last week I have been unable to convert or upload them. This is my "OMG why won't IT just come and FIX this already face." Right after making this face, though, I called IT (this is after 4 unanswered e-mails) and got someone to come fix it. It only took them an hour sitting at my desk which is the LEAST of the things they've had to do to get this damn thing to work. Let this be a lesson to you if you're an IT person - DON'T completely change a department's programs unless you a) know how they use it, and b) test it and make sure it works first!

This Little Light of Mine

6-9-10
I put candles in the window and am now enjoying them as I sit here doing grad school research. Glow-y!

Only One Rides the Bus...

6-8-10
I went to the city today for a Raiser's Edge training/user's group. I decided to ride the bus to the BART station 'cause I didn't feel like dealing with parking, and didn't have time to get the front wheel and brake back on my bike before I needed to leave. Shockingly, I was the only one on the bus!!! Here I am, with a weird look on my face showing you both how empty the bus was, and how badly I need a haircut!

Colorful

6-7-10
Jess' crocs have become the dogs' playthings. Here they are strewn about the back yard in an attempt to make our yard look as ghetto as possible.

Backyard Blooms

6-5-10
I thought the tree in our backyard was just a regular tree, but this week it has bloomed!

Mid-day Nap

6-3-10
Kap, Katherine and I decided we needed to take a walk after lunch, so we walked down to Bancroft for some Yogurtland. On the way back, we noticed how inviting and sunny the lawn at Cal was, so we decided to take a lil' catnap. Aaah, glorious!

Dead

6-2-10
Leave me in charge of the office flowers and this is what happens...

Welcome to Oakland

6-1-10
Yep, that's a guy driving down the road (a busy road, mind you) in a go-kart. I am pretty sure that's not legal, but I guess at least he was wearing a helmet?
